Women and Bicycling: Data and Programs
Studies tell us there are many women who are hesitant to cycle due to perceived
safety issues, and a lack of confidence and technical "know how” in
bike use. A 2002 SFBC study found that the largest barriers are ones that could
potentially be overcome with infrastructure changes and a healthy dose of bicycle
education. This presentation shares the experience of a successful strategy
that introduces women to the practical and enjoyable use of bicycles in Victoria,
Australia.

(NHTSA) course: Community Bicycle Safety for Law Enforcement (CBS). This presentation
will discuss the role of law enforcement in bicycle safety and encouragement,
review the CBS curriculum, and explain how you can access CBS-trained officers
