Safe Routes to School Special Events

Presented by the SRTS National Partnership and the National Center for Bicycling & Walking

The Pro Walk/Pro Bike 2006 conference in Madison, Wisconsin, will feature two special Safe Routes to School events.

Safe Routes to School Practitioners’ Workshop
Presented by the National Center for Bicycling & Walking and the SRTS National Partnership

Date: Tuesday, September 5, 1-5 PM
Location: The Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club, 1 West Dayton Street in Madison (about 6 blocks from the Monona Terrace Conference Center)
Admission: Registration is closed at this time.

This workshop will be of interest to: Affiliates of the SRTS National Partnership, SRTS State Coordinators, State Bike/Ped Coordinators; Public Health Advocates; and SRTS practitioners including state, regional and local program organizers. It will be assumed that workshop participants will have a general knowledge of SRTS.

The workshop will include case studies from across the U.S. We’ll use large and small discussion groups to explore the latest innovations in the implementation of local SRTS planning and initiatives. The interactive format will allow for an examination of programs that are working and gaining momentum and of the issues that can weigh a program down.

The workshop will also include presentations from the Federal Highway Administration’s SRTS Program; and the SRTS Clearinghouse. Representatives from each will talk about resources that are or will soon be made available to foster implementation of local SRTS programs.
